Healthy Maternal and Early Childhood Program
The Healthy Maternal and Early Childhood Program is Sunny-Side Center's program created under the Community Solutions for Healthy Child Development grant, funded by the Minnesota Department of Health. This equity-focused initiative is designed to improve child development outcomes related to the well-being of children of color and American Indian children from prenatal to grade three and their families.
About the Grant
The Community Solutions for Healthy Child Development grant is awarded by the Minnesota Department of Health to fund community-based, culturally responsive programs aimed at reducing racial disparities and promoting racial and geographic equity in early childhood development. Sunny-Side Center was awarded this grant to deliver the Healthy Maternal and Early Childhood Program to families in our community.
Services Provided
- Medical Transportation - assistance getting to medical appointments and health services
- Parenting Classes - education and skills for effective parenting
- Nutrition Classes - guidance on healthy nutrition for families
- Economic Security Support - connecting families with financial resources and support
- Safe and Nurturing Environment Resources - creating a stable home environment
- Home Visits - wrap-around services with in-home support and tips on general family well-being
- One-on-One Case Management - personalized support based on the specific needs of each family
